The Koruncuk Foundation was established in 1979 through the initiative of volunteers, led by Hüseyin Bilgin, then Head of the Istanbul Police Department’s Child Protection Unit. Without requiring any academic performance criteria, the foundation provides shelter and care services for girls at risk in terms of meeting their basic needs and accessing education—from middle school through university—and supports their university studies as well as their professional development.
In Koruncukköy villages, the goal is to ensure that girls aged 10–18, regardless of their socio-economic background, can access their rights, grow up with love and security, continue their education without interruption, and contribute added value to society.
