The Mediterranean Conservation Association was established in 2012 as a national non-governmental organization in Izmir, Turkey. Monitoring and restoration of endangered species such as the Mediterranean monk seal, the sandbar shark, and the marine ecosystems in which they inhabit are among the organization's primary areas of focus. While contributing to the conservation of species and habitats, the association also ensures the livelihoods of traditional coastal fishermen who continue their profession.
